Florida Insect Control Group, LLC (FICG), with the crucial support of the prestigious Urban Entomology Laboratory of the University of Florida, decided to study opportunities for embedding pesticides in coatings, putting them in a surface rather than putting them on a surface or simply spraying them in the air, and taking advantage of micro-structures and their attendant porosity to allow a slow release of the pesticide, a slower degradation of the pesticide itself, and a longer-lasting effect, while increasing the safety characteristics of the pesticides.

The innovation that links the entire current product line comes from the slow pesticide/larvicide releasing technology, developed and patented by the University of Florida.
